AGAINST THE GRAIN - MOVEMENT & MENTORSHIP PROGRAMS

WHAT IT IS

Against The Grain is a structured, movement-based mentorship initiative designed for young people who don’t connect with traditional support systems.

Backed by real-world experience in youth work, behavioural support, and movement-based engagement, our programs combine physical activity with mentorship to improve emotional regulation, confidence, and overall wellbeing.

This is more than just exercise.
It’s a space where young people can, move their bodies, release built-up emotions, build discipline and self-belief, develop trust through real connection.


At the core of our approach is a simple belief:
these aren’t “bad” or “troubled” young people, they’re young people who simply don’t respond to traditional models of support.

We meet them differently, so they can respond differently.

WHO IT IS FOR

Against The Grain is designed for young people aged 12–18 who may:


  • Struggle with emotional regulation, anger, or frustration
  • Feel disengaged from school or community
  • Be influenced by negative environments or social media
  • Lack positive role models or mentorship
  • Need a safe, structured outlet to express themselves


Our programs are inclusive of all backgrounds and abilities, and are especially effective for young people who don’t respond to traditional, sit-down support models.


We focus on:
movement, connection, and real-life conversation

THE RIGHT PATH

A structured movement and mentorship program designed for boys who need guidance, direction, and strong male role models.


The Right Path focuses on:


  • Discipline and accountability
  • Emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Respect, values, and identity
  • Channeling energy into movement and purpose

It provides a space where boys can be challenged, supported, and guided into becoming confident, respectful young men.

HER PATH

A movement and mindfulness-based program designed to support young girls navigating the pressures of adolescence.


Her Path focuses on:


  • Confidence and self-worth
  • Emotional awareness and regulation
  • Social pressures, bullying, and identity
  • Healthy habits, mindset, and resilience

It creates a safe, empowering environment where girls can build confidence, feel heard, and develop a strong sense of self.

OUR APPROACH

Our work is built on experience delivering movement-based supports across schools, community settings, and NDIS participants.

We don’t replace existing supports, we work alongside them.

Through structured sessions, consistent mentoring, and real connection, we help young people:


  • Feel seen
  • Stay engaged
  • Build confidence
  • Develop lifelong skills

OUR AIM

To guide young people who feel overlooked, misunderstood, or disconnected,  onto a path where they can thrive.

In a world where many young people are falling through the cracks,
